What We Do

Individual Therapy

The foundation of Breakthrough services is Individual Therapy. Individual Therapy is a type of psychological counseling (psychotherapy) that is used to help individual clients improve their mental health. Breakthrough’s focus is on providing evidence-based counseling in addition to understanding the whole person through a mind-body-spirit approach. Individual therapy is provided to all clients ages 5-17, along with any other recommended services on their care plan. Read more about additional services below.

Additional Youth Mental Health Services

Based on therapist recommendations, the following additional mental health services may be implemented in a youth client care plan.

Breakthrough’s group therapy for youth allows clients to act as a support network for each other, and see that they are not alone. Sessions are led by one or more therapists, who teach group members proven strategies for managing specific problems. Combining psychotherapy with Christian teachings, members learn how different mental health struggles interact with Scripture, as well as how to build their personal relationship with Christ and find their identity within Him. Visit our Get Involved – Youth webpage for more information.

Family therapy is a type of psychological counseling (psychotherapy) that is used to help family members improve communication and resolve conflicts. At Breakthrough, we focus on the heart of the presenting issue and primarily use attachment focused therapy to assist in building healthy connections that will serve a family even after therapy is completed. Family therapy can include multiple family members, or identified clients and parents. Talk with your therapist for more information.

Parent therapy is used to strengthen and build connections in families, to teach communication and conflict resolution strategies, and to foster a secure relationship attachment within the family. God has called parents to be Christ’s ambassadors in their child’s life and Breakthrough desires to support parents in this fundamental role. Visit our Get Involved – Parents webpage for more information.

Breakthrough offers an ongoing Parent Support Group one evening per month. View the Breakthrough Events Calendar for specific dates and more information.

Breakthrough offers Telehealth Therapy for High School Aged Youth. Telemental health is the use of telecommunications or videoconferencing technology to provide mental health services. Check with your insurance provider to see if your benefits cover telehealth therapy with Breakthrough. Therapist approval is needed for scheduling telehealth sessions. In person sessions for youth are highly recommended.
