For us, faith isn’t an afterthought — it’s our first thought

Yet it’s not our only thought

At most therapy practices, your faith comes up only if you bring it up. At Breakthrough, it’s where we start.

Every therapist on our team is both fully licensed and rooted in Christian faith. We share Scriptural truth. We pray for clients on our own time. We offer financial assistance because our work is a ministry, and we want everyone who desires therapy to be able to access it.

Faith is our foundation. Clinical excellence is our frame.

By pairing approachable theology with practical, evidence-based strategies, we help you build a life where your mind, body, and spirit all work together.

If faith isn’t something you want woven into your sessions, we’ll respect that. You’ll still receive the same quality of clinical care.

Our Christian counseling is about more than sharing Bible verses

But here are a few that guide our practice

Breakthrough Counseling is built on the guiding principles of truth, refuge, light, renewal, design, story, and relationship.

Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.

–Psalm 25:5

The Lord is good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him.

–Nahum 1:7

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

–John 8:12

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

–Romans 8:28

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

–Ephesians 4:24

He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

–Philippians 1:6

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

–Hebrews 10:24–25

Our relationship to Sioux Falls Christian

Breakthrough was founded by, shares values with, and welcomes referrals from Sioux Falls Christian. However, we operate independently.

Your records, your sessions, and everything you share are kept completely confidential in accordance with HIPAA. SFC has no access to your care unless you choose to share it. While our buildings are neighbors, you can park in the back for full privacy.

Most of our clients aren’t connected to SFC at all. In fact, you don’t need any affiliation with any faith background to be here. However you found us, we’re glad you did.
