Your family should feel like home to everyone in it
If one person’s hurting, so are the others.
If one person’s hurting, so are the others.
God created families to support one another. When one member struggles, the others should strengthen them. And those people, often parents, need strengthening too.
Whether your family is facing conflict, miscommunication, behavioral issues, or a major change — good or bad — Breakthrough can help you face it.
Our therapists can work with your entire family or only those directly impacted by the issue at hand. We’ll discuss the best structure for your situation during your initial consultation.
Whether or not your family shares the same house, you share the same heart. Let’s heal it together.

“I felt like I had failed my son. I lost hope until I found our therapist at Breakthrough, who understands the needs for all of us.”
“The most important thing is that our son has found someone he can talk to about anything, and we are learning how to be the best parents we can be for him. We have someone who is cheering us on and wants all of us to flourish and grow. Every day is not roses, but they do get better. With the proper therapist, faith, and the right tools needed to succeed, the darkness fades, and you begin to see the light.”

“Living with a child with a mental illness, you are walking on eggshells every day. You wake up trying to stay positive, but worry that this could be another one of ‘those days.’ At Breakthrough, our daughter has found her safe person, someone to rely on.”
“We, as her parents, have found the person we can trust for her. Someone who will listen with an open ear and heart and will not judge. Someone who is knowledgeable and will discuss things in an understanding, professional way.”

FAQs About Individual Therapy in Sioux Falls
FAQs About Individual Therapy in Sioux Falls
Does everyone in the family have to come to every session?
Not necessarily. Your therapist will work with you to determine the right structure for each stage of treatment. Sometimes the whole family will come, sometimes just a few members, sometimes one person needs individual therapy alongside… whatever is right for the situation, we’ll do.
What if one family member refuses to come?
That’s more common than you’d think. And it doesn’t have to be a dealbreaker. Family therapy can begin with whoever is willing and evolve with time. Change in one person usually affects the whole family. And sometimes, the resistant member becomes curious as they see progress take place.
